Quick chat about…simple things that make you smile

Not sure how it came up on my Netflix choices (darned kids probably using my profile again!) but i saw a film clip of a sassy little girl with attitude and so i clicked on it.

Ivy + Bean – a movie about two little girls just playing make believe! Digging a hole in the ground and calling it the Pit of Doom, waving a twig in the air and calling it a magic wand.

Just reminded me of back in the day (way, WAY back in the day) when my imagination was all i needed to play and have fun.

When I had bath towel hair (as in putting a bath towel on my head pretending i had long flowing hair) and sang into a microphone comb to an audience of three cuddly toys – a gigantic bear, a smaller normal sized bear, and a monster with fangs – and two dolls (one with a missing eye).

When i was teaching those same toy ‘kids’ how to do maths using an abacus and pointing to the gigantic bear with a ruler, telling him ‘Stop talking and pay attention please!’

Menopause has done many things to me, but it hasn’t made me forget those memories and it made me smile to relive them through these two little girls for 57 minutes.

Did you used to play make believe when you were younger, in the days before the Disney Channel? Let me know what childhood make believe games you played in the comments below – remembering will probably make you smile too!

WRITING TIP

And now for that all important tip for writers:

Action is the foundation to success

Writing is the foundation to a book.

Duh.
